September 13, 2010: David is interviewed for a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) news story on the The National about integrating video games into the elementary school curriculum.

September 13, 2010: David publishes an article about integrating video games into the middle school classroom in Middle Ground.

June 9, 2010: David delivers a convocation address to graduates in Brock's teacher education program. The speech is covered by the St. Catharines Standard newspaper as part of it's Brock convocation reporting.

May 11, 2010: At an Ontario Ministry of Education conference, David presents on the possibilities for integrating video games across the Intermediate curriculum.

November 13, 2009: David delivers a presentation related to integrating video games into schools at the Educational Computing Organization of Ontario Conference.

June 15, 2009: David delivers a presentation entitled "10 Ways to Integrate Video Games into the Elementary and Secondary School Classroom" to the Immersive Worlds Conference, held at Brock University.

June 5, 2009: David delivers two plenary addresses to an audience of elementary and secondary-level teachers at the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland And Clarington Catholic District School Board.

May 14, 2009: David's sixth book, From Gamer to Game Designer: The Official Far Cry 2 Map Editing Guide, is released.

May 5, 2009: David is elected Chair of the Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, Brock University for a three-year term (effective July 1st).

March 1, 2009: The 7th edition of Elementary Social Studies, a Canadian social studies textbook, co-authored by Professors Ian Wright and David Hutchison is released.

February 10, 2009: David delivers a keynote address related to his Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom book at the Central Ontario Computer Association conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

November 13, 2008: David presents a session related to his Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom book at the Educational Computing Organization of Ontario (ECOO) conference in Toronto.

August, 2008: David consults on a video game design camp for children as part of Brock University's Youth University program.

July 3, 2008: David presents a poster session on the topic of his video games in education book at the Provoking Research, Provoking Communities conference at the University of Windsor.

July 2, 2008: David guest presents a session on the topic of place-based education in C. A. Bowers eco-justice workshop at the University of Windsor.

June 19, 2008: David is interviewed by Electric Playground, a leading video games website (and TV show) on the topic of video games in education.

June, 2008: David is interviewed by a number of Canadian TV networks and newspapers on the topic of his book, Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom. TV interviews include: Breakfast Television (CityTV), WebMania (CTV), CHCH-TV, A-Channel London, and Space TV. David is also interviewed by CBC Radio.

May 26, 2008: David presents a keynote address in Toronto at the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators conference on the topic of environmental education.

May 9, 2008: David presents a session related to his Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom book at the E-Learning Comes Together conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

April 12, 2008: David presents a session related to his Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom book at the New York State Council for the Social Studies Conference in Buffalo, New York.

April 4, 2008: David presents a session related to his Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom book at the Educational Computing Organization of Ontario (ECOO) Elementary Conference in Kitchener, Ontario.

December, 2007: David's article, titled "Drawing on children’s “Sense of Place” as the starting point for teaching social studies and geography," is published by the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training.

November 9, 2007: David is interviewed by GameSpot, one of leading video game websites, on the topic of his book, Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom.

November 8, 2007: David presents a session related to his Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom book at the Educational Computing Organization of Ontario Conference in Toronto.

October 22, 2007: David is interviewed (part one and two) by Henry Jenkins, MIT Professor and media theorist, on the topic of David's book, Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom.

September, 2007: The September, 2007 issue of GameInformer Magazine features an opinion article by David on the topic of video games and education.

July 5-9, 2007: David presents a paper titled "Challenging the Taboo of Video Games in the Classroom" at the International Study Association for Teachers and Teaching (ISATT) Conference at Brock University.

June 4-5, 2007: David and the conference organizers host a book launch for Playing to Learn: Video Games in the Classroom at the Interacting with Immersive Worlds Conference at Brock University. Also in attendance is James Paul Gee, who wrote the Foreword.
